1. Register

Simply choose which divisions(s) you want to compete in. Each division that is entered costs $30. You can pay with any major debit or credit card, and students from any country in the world can enter.

2. Film & Submit Video On Day of Event

On August 3rd or 4th, login to this site. You will film yourself (use a tripod or have a friend hold your phone) demonstrating your form/kata/poomsae. This video will be submitted as your entry video for the World Championships.

3. Judging and Results

Our panel of international judges will watch each submission and enter scores, along with comments. After all judges have scored your entry, you will be notified, and can see your exact score and ranking upon logging in. You can also watch all of your fellow competitors' submission videos and see their detailed score and comments. We will mail out the medals to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for each division. All other participants will receive special gifts for participating!


  • Before you begin your form (kata), bow, then state your name, your rank, your school's name, and the name of the form.
  • Your form must be a minimum of 30 seconds long.
  • You can demonstrate any form/kata/poomsae from your style. You are not limited.
  • Your entry video must be filmed and submitted on August 3rd or 4th; our proprietary software allows you to record and upload from within our website on any device.

Judging Rubric

Below is the scorecard that judges will use while judging your entry. 

  • Technical Proficiency - Correctness of strikes/blocks/kicks.
  • Power - Strength/intensity/effort.
  • Stances - Posture/leg bend/stability.  
  • Spirit - Presentation/attitude.
  • Degree of Difficulty - Level of challenge.  
  • Flow - Control/timing/fluidity.

Dennis Forleo (Taekwondo)

Dennis Forleo has been involved in martial arts for 33 years and reached his 1st Black Belt when he was only 11 years old. He began teaching in 1987 under the supervision of his instructor, Brian Cunnings. He moved to Montana in 2000 and opened his own school in 2003. He holds a 7th Degree Black Belt rank in Chi-Tu Do, to which he was promoted in 2017. He has also been promoted to Associate Grandmaster (8th Degree Black Belt) in the Estalilla Kabaroan system of Eskrima by GM Ramiro U. Estalilla Jr. on July 21, 2013. He has also has achieved a 5th Degree Black Belt in Shiho Karano Ju Jitsu under Soke Clement Riedner, a 4th Degree Black Belt in Chung Do Kwan Tae Kwon Do under GM Edward B. Sell, a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Krav Maga in the USKMA under Mark Slane, and a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He has also trained with Bill Kipp for some time and has become a Master FAST Defense Instructor and Predator. Master Forleo teaches the Advanced and Black Belt classes as well as many of the Krav Maga classes. Master Forleo was recognized by the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame as “2014 Master of the Year.”

Sid Nelson (Taekwondo)

Mr. Nelson has been actively involved in martial arts for over 40 years. He is an 8th Degree Grand Master in Taekwondo and owns a successful school in Lexington, Kentucky. He traveled around the US and abroad giving and promoting seminars and demonstrations to ensure and preserve the quality of Taekwondo and has competed on a national and world level. He takes very sincere, carrying and direct approach in teaching Taekwondo to his students, and he believes that as a beginner slow practice equals fast progress in the martial art.

Jon Hodge (Karate)

Jon Hodge currently holds the rank of 6th dan black belt in shotokan karate and song moo kwan. He has taught martial arts for nearly 20 years. Over the years Master Hodge has studied many different forms of martial arts and is also a Master Chi Kung and Tai Chi instructor. Master Hodge is well known as a teacher of self defense, self discipline, and most importantly to him – self improvement.

Michael Hodge (Karate, Weapons)

Michael Hodge is the founder of the weapons style Ultimate Bo. Michael has been studying the martial arts since age seven and has earned a 3rd degree black belt in shotokan karate and song moo kwan. He has taught thousands of classes as an instructor in his own dojo, and his father’s dojo in the last 10 years, and now currently works with his home study students from around the globe. His goal is to help others reach their full potential.

Nathan Douglas (Weapons)

Nathan Douglas holds a 3rd dan Kukkiwon black belt. He has been training in Taekwondo since 1998, he also holds a black chevron in Ultimate Bo. Nathan has been a martial arts teacher since 2012- teaching taekwondo and bojutsu in a local academy. Nathan lives with his wife Sarah and kids Tailynn and Jake in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada.

For the first time ever, you can enter an international competition against martial artists from dozens of different countries - at home. Train, prepare, and on the day of the event, you will film a video submission with your form (kata/poomsae), and you can watch all other competitors' entries as well.


This is an open tournament. All styles within a major division can compete with their own form/kata/poomsae. The judges for each division are advanced black belt masters, each with 20+ years of teaching and grading experience. The judges scorecard is based in the principles of martial arts, rather than being specific to an exact style.

Registration Payment

Intellectual Property  

You agree that the Global Martial Arts World Championships, including but not limited to GMAWC content, products, graphics, user interface, audio clips, video clips, editorial content, and the scripts and software used to implement the GMAWC, contains proprietary information and material that is owned by Global Martial Arts World Championships, and is protected by applicable intellectual property and other laws, including but not limited to copyright. No portion of the GMAWC content may be reproduced in any form or by any means, except as expressly permitted in these terms. Video and Photo Release

As a user (participant), you agree to allow other GMA WC users to view your entry videos, scores, and comments from the judges. If you are the parent of a participant that is under the age of 18, you agree to allow other GMAU WC users to view your child’s entry videos,scores, and comments from the judges.  

Limitation of Liability  

All information provided by the Global Martial Arts World Championships and Hodgy LLC is of a general nature and is furnished for educational/entertainment purposes only. No information is to be taken as medical or other health advice pertaining to an individual’s specific health or medical condition. I acknowledge and agree that my participation with the GMAWC is for the purpose of demonstrating martial arts; the demonstration of martial arts is physically strenuous, dynamic, and challenging practice of self defense which includes, but is not limited to, punching, kicking, striking and grappling, both individually and with partners.
